So I’ve been looking around for a new mobile game to play similar to League of Angels: Fire Raiders (my review on that game coming soon). And I stumbled across Brave Frontier on Facebook. It offers the same sort of unit style but varies on how to level the characters up. While I have not played this game for long, I can see now that I will be playing a lot of it as time goes on, so here is an early review of the game so far.
The game is not in landscape mode as various other games have been, which off the bat makes it different. Having your phone vertical while playing this game makes it look like you are doing something on your phone other than playing a game. But it works being vertical than horizontal because when you are actually battling or scrolling through units or quests, you are actually able to see more.
The unit and leveling up system is a combination of Pokemon and various other collect hero / unit games. You get more units as you progress through the various quests, some are used to fuse, or level up, a unit, and others used to evolve a unit. Meanwhile they are all their own individual unit and show up in a unit list once you gather them, similar to a Pokedex would.
You also have a town that you use to gather resources to help you craft potions and other items that will wind up being beneficial during your missions. You can level up different areas of the town using what is known as karma, something you gather while you complete missions, giving you extra resources from different places in the town.
And the best thing that I loved about this game when I started it up was a simple button known as “Skip Tutorial.” I wanted to just get into the game and start playing, I didnt want to sit there forever and hit what the game wanted me to. I wanted to play.
All in all, I’m liking this game so far and will either update this post or create another with an even further indepth review later on.
