For the last 9 months or so, I’ve been playing a new game called War Dragons.
Honestly, it seems to be one of the more interesting mobile games that I have played, aside for Fire Raiders or the others. It follows the same principle of collecting shards to get more powerful dragons, which sometimes leans to the pay to win scale because towards the higher levels you need almost 700 egg shards. When I first started the game back in the summer, there were 7 tiers of dragons and since then, they have added 2 more tiers with a third in development still.
The way you level up your base is by leveling up your towers and towards the higher levels of towers, they give you so much experience that you wind up leveling up your base with one tower leveling up to the next level. The only way to level up your dragons though, is by actually going against other bases. You do though want a higher level backing you up on runs though because you get what is known as multipliers for three runs, and you want to be maximizing your experience gain. Now if you spend the extra little cash to get the elite account, you get double the experience per run on your dragon.
You do have egg missions, where you do different things to acquire more egg tokens for you to breed more dragons. Obviously if you pay for the elite account, you wind up actually getting double the eggs for breeding.
Every weekend, and by weekend it starts on Wednesday night and ends Monday night, there is an event going on. The main three are Breeding, Fortification, and some sort of player versus player event. Breeding is self explanatory, you save up all your egg tokens for these events so you can rack up as much points as possible for different levels of rewards. Fortification events is where you save up all your speed ups so that you can upgrade your base as much as possible. Player versus Player is also self explanatory because they are varying in style of events but the focus is the same, you go against other teams in your league to win points and get your team to the top.
Since the fall though, Pocket Gems has been putting out “Season Divine Dragons.” These are special limited time only dragons, that you can get only with these style events. These dragons are unlocked through getting tokens through rewards or spending gems on chests. These dragons also have evolving tokens that allow you to evolve your dragon to the next tier so long as you have that token. This causes there to be a new strategy in playing this game because of these dragons.
When I first started playing, the main strategy was to pretty much level your dragons to the point where they couldn’t level anymore due to your Den being locked because your player level wasn’t high enough. In some regards, its still a viable strategy because your base doesn’t wind up being too far ahead of your dragons. Meanwhile with these new season dragons, as long as you get the different evolving tokens, you are able to keep your dragons and base at the same level.
As for your bases, keeping a base nice and small that’s only 5 islands, islands being a set of 5 tours, long helps your defenders, and also causes your defense power to skyrocket as you level up your towers. If you wind up going longer especially all the way to 8 islands, you wind up causing your enemy to be able to get too much rage over time.
All in all though, War Dragons is a fun time waster and obviously with any game the more time you put into it, the more you get out of it. I find it fun, and one of the better mobile games I’ve played in a while. The downsides though, Pocket Gems does have a lot of glitches and server errors at times which makes it frustrating, especially when my teammates sometimes can’t even log in without the game crashing on them.
