Death Note – Netflix Live Action Version

So it’s been a couple weeks or so since Netflix released their version of the Death Note universe and I figure I’d write my take on it. Netflix built up such a hype about it, how it looked similar to the actually anime, let’s get to it.

Netflix….why? Did you not read the manga? Did you not watch the anime? 37 freaking episodes to watch in the anime and you come up with a hour and forty minutes of content? There was so much more to the story than just an hour and forty minutes. While yes, Netflix left it open ended for another movie, but let’s be honest here, the negative reviews I’ve heard from in the last 24 hours, from my friends and the anime community, I think Netflix won’t be making another one. Let’s face it, the writers did the same thing that was done to the Dragon ball movie that shall not be named. They were looking for a paycheck, and wrote something that didn’t even follow the actual story.

Light was made into a pansey, compared to his anime self. He was made into a horny teenager wanting the hot girl and be in her pants right off the bat. The saving grace about Light, was the final entry into the Death Note, the actual character Light was in the manga and the anime was shown. L and Ryuk, were in my opinion the actual same as they were in the anime and manga. I thought that they were really well done.

My honest opinion is, if you are a fan of the series, do not watch this movie, it is not what you want from it.

If you are a fan but have an open mind about it being different, go ahead and watch it.

If you are a person who hasn’t seen the series, watch this movie, then compare it to the manga.
