Written back in 2001 for English Class. I was heavy into reading Star Wars books and kind of merged Star Wars and our timeline.
Rogue Kell
My name is Kell Dill. The year is 2 years A.E. (After Earth) or in the year 2150. We left Earth to explore the galaxy but as soon as we left the solar sector (system) invaders came and blew Earth up to pieces. Most the adults that were on Earth died but there is one or two around. We built a space station that can keep mankind alive. Now it is our turn to kick some tail.
I am the Rogue Squadron commander (a team of a dozen fighters). I am fifteen years old. I am tall for my age. I have blonde hair and blue eyes.
Today we are on a scouting mission on the outskirts of the galaxy. The mission is to see if we find these mysterious invaders who blew up Earth so that we will be ready for an attack by the invaders at our space station.
“Leader!” said Four.
“Yes?” I replied.
“Get out of here or you can’t explain our deaths.”
I looked out the side and saw Four with me. The others were burning in flames. Then a fighter came from behind and blasted Four to flames.
“I’m out of here.” I said. I then jumped into light speed and got back to the space station before any one knew I was at the battle.
“Bye commandSSSSSSSHHHHHHH,” Four said.
The space station is 1,000,000 miles in length and 100 miles high. The space station had it’s own shields and gun turrets to defend it.
Back on the space station I was debriefed and sent to my quarters (my quarters is a big house). I spent my time in the dark until someone knocked on my door and said, “Kell?” I knew that voice was familiar but I just couldn’t get off the tip of my tongue.
“Yes?” I replied.
“Can I come in?”
“Yah come in.” My door opened and the lights flicked on. The person was my girlfriend Alison Horn. She has long blonde hair with green highlights; she is tall and has green eyes.
“I heard what happened.”
“Who told you?”
“Dave.”
David was her brother and a friend of mine who introduced me to Alison. He is a short boy, with brown hair, and blue eyes.
“How did he know?”
“He finished his training.”
“Oh.”
“I missed you.”
“And I you.” Just then Dave entered.
“Kell the Admiral would like to see.” Dave said, “Did I interrupt something?”
“Dude next time knock,” I replied to Dave.
“Hurry up Kell.” Alison said.
“Okay. Okay,” I replied.
I got up, put my shirt on and walked to the Admiral’s office, which was 20 doors down.
I knocked on the Admiral’s door “Enter,” came the Admiral’s voice. I entered.
“Hello Admiral.” I said.
He answered, “Kell your rank as commander of Rogue Squadron is destroyed.”
“What?”
“I am saying you won’t fly again until Rogue Squadron is reestablished and trained.”
“Okay. I’m on the inactive list.”
“You are correct.”
“Do you need to see me any more?”
“No that is all.”
“Okay.”
I walked to the Rogue Squadron hanger, which is 1 ½ football fields wide and 1 football field high. In order to have a Squadron you need fighters. I went to the Flight Desk and ordered 12 A-wings, B-wings, E-wings, Naboo Bombers, Naboo N-1 Starfighters T-wings, V-wings, X-wings and Y-wings. I also ordered racks that hold all the fighters. I went to see where the fighters used to be. Huh something isn’t right here. Where is my XJ model X-wing? Oh yeah! It was destroyed after I came back from the outskirts.
“I knew you’d be here,” Alison said. I turned around.
“Alison you’re not allowed here,” I replied.
“I know but they are.”
“Who are they?”
“Your squadron.”
“I don’t have the leadership to do this.”
“I know you can command this squadron.”
“You don’t need leadership to command us, commander.” Dave said.
“You’re going to kill me if Dave dies Alison.”
“So? You die you die. I don’t care if he dies. Dave made you this squadron.”
“Alright you two stop talking and get up here.” Dave yelled down.
“Alison go back to your quarters, I still have to talk to this squadron your brother made.” I said.
AAAAA…. AAAAAAA…. AAAAAAAAA.
“All pilots go to your fighters. All pilots report to your fighters.” That is the warning signal that the invaders are here. I pulled on my flight suit and went to check on Alison in her quarters. Like usual her door was unlocked. I checked on her to see if she was awake but she wasn’t. Her hair was in a halo sort of way. I got out of Alison’s quarters and sprinted to the Rogue Squadron Hanger. I went into the hanger as if I destroyed the door. I ran to my X-wing and powered it up.
“Rogues Report,” I said.
“All ready done Lead,” said Dave.
“Let’s blast these bugs.”
“Yes sir!”
We ejected from the racks and formed into three diamonds. Five minutes later Rogue Squadron and many other squadrons were in space dancing in the cross fire of the space station’s guns and the invaders attacking the space station.
“Boggies incoming!” said Five.
“Break by Flights. Now!” I said.
“Thanks Three.” “Your welcome Four.” “Torps away!” “Get clear Nine.” “There’s too many of them!”
“Rogue Squadron report,” I said over the communication system.
“Everyone is okay Lead,” Dave said.
“Take us in Lead the battle is over,” said Nine.
“Hay don’t give me orders Nine,” I told Nine.
Later Back on the space station.
“Alison the squadron and I have go on a mission. Your brother and I won’t get hurt. I promise,” I said.
“Okay,” Alison replied.
On our way back to the space station the invaders attacked again.
“Lead I am picking up multiple signals,” Dave told me.
“Hang tight,” I responded.
“Engage or retreat?”
“Retreat!”
Back on the space station.
“You guys came back early,” Alison said
“Fighters,” I responded.
“Come here I have something for you.”
“Okay.”
I went over to where she was standing.
“What do you think?”
“What are they?”
“Flight suits.”
“Okay.”
“Go get some rest Kell.”
Later I was sleeping like a log in my quarters.
Years later after the war Alison and I got married and had a son and daughter. To this day Rogue Squadron is handed down from generation to generation. I over came my problem of not having the confidence to command Rogue Squadron when Alison cheered me up by saying, “I know you can command this squadron.”
